Lasers represent a significant advance in dermatology and dermatologic surgery. Their precision, range of applications, and relatively short recovery time have brought new levels of treatment results. Short pulses of light remove skin tissue to improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, blemishes, discoloration, blood vessels, and sun damage, as well as the skin’s overall tone and texture.

Here at Coastal Valley Dermatology, it is important to utilize the most cutting edge technology. Dr. Javid uses the Sciton® laser technology to provide patients with beautifully noticeable results and allows for minimal pain and a short recovery time. Doctor Roya Javid performs all her laser procedures in her state of the art medical facitliy in Carmel, California.

    FYBBL
Far superior to regular photo facial treatments, Sciton’s dual lamp technology delivers results in less treatments and
time – saving you money with better results. BBL (BroadBand Light) offers a full range of pulsed-light treatments, including rejuvenation applications that target the effects of photo-aging, such as brown spots, tiny broken vessels,
    and other benign lesions.

Scientific evidence demonstrates regular maintenance treatments using Forever Young BBL technology rejuvenates skin and delays skin aging.

“Patients who maintain a regular regimen of BBL treatments annually can reduce and delay the long term signs of skin aging in a way that looks very natural.” – Bitter, P, Pozner, J. (2013) Retrospective Evaluation of the Long-term Anti-Aging Effects of Broadband Light Therapy. Cosmetic Dermatology, February 2013, 34-40.

Furthermore, a recent Stanford study shows BBL treated skin has significantly altered expressions RNA expression levels, which similar in expression level of youthful skin, histological evidence of decreased elastosis and more uniform collagen deposition, and improvements in fine wrinkles, coarse wrinkles and pigmentation.
BBL treatment can restore gene expression pattern of aged human skin to resemble young skin. This is the first study to demonstrate that gene expression can be rejuvenated to that of young skin cells in vivo and non-invasively with BBL.

  • Micro

Show up Friday, Show off Monday

A Microlaser peel removes a very thin layer of skin to improve fine lines, pigmentation, tone and texture. The microlaser gently revitalizes the entire skin surface and restores a more youthful appearance. This is an in-office procedure and you can return to normal activities quickly. • ProFractional

The ProFractional laser treats a fraction of the skin, stimulating new collagen growth, and improving your skin’s tone and texture, while reducing fine lines and deeper wrinkles. There is little to moderate downtime following this procedure. Click here to learn more

  • Deep

Sciton’s deep, total resurfacing laser is used for deep lines, wrinkles, and/or laxity. Key areas such as the lines around the eyes and lips can be targeted. Treatments are customized and tailored specifically for you by Dr. Javid to achieve your desired outcome. No other non-surgical technology can turn back time as effectively as this deep, total resurfacing laser. This procedure requires some downtime, usually 7–10 days. Click here to learn more

  • Why

Combining procedures for further enhancement of patient’s results is an increasing trend in aesthetic medicine with the combination of a Sciton laser peel and other common aesthetic procedures at the forefront.

For wrinkle reduction, lighter laser peels can improve fine lines. Lighter laser peels will NOT improve deep lines. Several light laser peels does NOT equal one deep laser peel.

Typically we combine our laser procedures with neuromodulators (i.e. Botox) and fillers for longevity and excellence. Laser cannot fully address the skeletal bony loss and collagen loss of facial aging and dynamic muscle lines. For wrinkle reduction, deep laser resurfacing is recommended. Basically it is just a deeper version of the MicroLaserPeel.

  • What

“You will look like a burn victim with greasy goop all over your face,” is how some of our patients describe the process. Deep resurfacing is NOT for all skin types and NOT for all body parts. We use it only for the face. We fine-tune and customize the laser procedure for our patient’s facial areas, desired outcomes and expected downtime. (Deeper=longer downtime=better result)

By relaxing the muscles with neuromodulators prior to a laser resurfacing, healing is much smoother and results are so much better than either procedure performed alone. Using a filler, like Restylane or Juvederm after a laser resurfacing also prolongs results.

Downtime is directly related to the intensity of the treatment. The more aggressive the treatment is (meaning the depth and power of the treatment), the more downtime will result. However, better and longer lasting results can be expected.

Should you prefer a shorter downtime, the treatment will be more superficial and more than one treatment WILL be required to achieve satisfactory results.

Should you choose to achieve great and faster results, only one treatment will be required. However, the downtime WILL require from 7 to 10 days with redness lasting for a period of approximately 6 weeks.
“Patients are surprised how quickly they heal. Our patients achieve skin rejuvenation with a fixed downtime. Downtime is depth-dependent and will range.”, says Dr Javd.

  • Long

To keep the benefits of any light and laser procedures you will need to incorporate the following steps into your daily regimen:

    • Avoid direct sun. Sun spots may return if exposed to sun without protection
    • Start a daily skin care regimen. Following the Laser peel, you will meet with our Aesthetician who will develop a customized skin care regimen to ensure that you will keep the benefit of the treatment. Failure to take care of your skin may shorten the benefit of the Laser peel.
