FAQs of Microneedling?
Eclipse MicroPen® Elite Microneedling is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The new boost of collagen thickens the skin, thus softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When microneedling is combined with special growth factors from PRP (platelet rich plasma) in what is called Vampire Facial, the collagen is stimulated in deeper layers of the skin, thus providing longer lasting results.
Each treatment consists of using 12 small, sterile, surgical microneedles to create small channels in the skin causing your body to start generating new collagen as it heals as well as creating access for growth factors to penetrate deeper layers of the skin
The treatment area is washed and numbing cream is applied. The skin is washed again and cleansed after the numbing cream has take effect. Our highly trained practitioner then uses the Eclipse MicroPen® Elite utilizing a sterile needle piece. The Micropen allows to adjust the depth of needle penetration depending on the area to be treated. The needle depth for treatment of fine wrinkles around the eyes (0.25mm) is very different when compared to acne scar depth, which is usually deeper (about 1.5-2 mm)
Our top priority is patient comfort. We will apply a specially formulated topical cream to numb the area that will be treated and will leave it on for about 40-60 min to fully take effect. After the numbing part has been done, there is virtually no pain or discomfort.
The treatment lasts about 15-30 minutes and its length is depending on the area being treated. Please do not forget to add extra time for numbing.
It is generally recommended and has been proved that a series of treatments will achieve a better result. One treatment is not enough, therefore a package of 3 to 6 treatments is needed to achieve the desired effect. The number of treatments will be discussed at the time of your consultation with Dr. Javid as it differs greatly from one individual to another.
There is very minimal downtime after the procedure and it also depends on the area that was treated. One of the most commonly treated areas is the face and people have different reactions from feeling absolutely nothing to being red, swollen and tender for about 24 hours after the treatment. As it is difficult to predict individual reactions, it is highly recommended to schedule your appointment after work or before the weekend.
It is very important to find an experienced physician to perform this procedure. In addition, it is also crucial to ensure that the microneedling device is FDA approved and uses sterile disposable needle tips. Our highly trained practitioners are experts in microneedling and use only FDA approved device like Eclipse Micro Pen to ensure safety of all of our patients.
Tenderness, redness, swelling, bleeding, bruising and infection are all possible side effects after the treatment.
