Eliminate Unsightly Veins
Both men and women can develop those unsightly spider veins and may seek treatment to reduce their appearance of this cosmetic concern. The gold standard of treatment for these veins is with laser vein removal. This treatment is fast, effective, and easy to treat.
What Causes These Spider Veins?
The broken capillaries and small spider veins that appear on the nose and face are often a result of exposure to the sun. These broken spider veins are usually worsened by alcohol, heat, tobacco, and sun. Rosacea, best described as the red facial flushing appearance, can be aggravated by a variety of causes including lifestyle and diet triggers.
How Does Laser Treat Broken Capillaries ?
Our Sciton Laser has a unique ability to selectively target the blood vessels and delivers pulses of light energy causing the blood within the vein to coagulate. The blood vessels will break down and shrink which leads to a reduction of the vascular lesion.
The laser light is set to a wavelength used to target the pigmentation of the blood, and heats the vein to destroy it. Laser vein removal does not damage tissue around the area and the destroyed vein is absorbed into the body. The results of laser vein removal can be seen immediately or over several days.
Patients are evaluated to determine if they are appropriate candidates for treatment. An examination as well as a thorough medical history is completed to ensure patients can undergo laser therapy. Spider veins are best treated with laser therapy whereas varicose veins that can cause pain and discomfort may be better treated with sclerotherapy. We do not offer sclerotherapy at Coastal Valley Dermatology, but determining which concern patients have is essential for deciding on the most effective solution.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Your eyes will be protected with safety goggles. You will feel a series of brief, warm pulses of laser energy directly on the broken capillaries. There is no anesthesia used for treatment and patients are often comfortable throughout the procedure.
Any Precautions Before Treatment?
Before the treatment, the skin is prepared with a thorough cleaning to remove make-up, oils, lotions, and other impurities from the skin’s surface. Patients should avoid sunlight or tanning for two weeks before their appointment, and should not have any current outbreaks such as herpes simplex virus during their treatment.
